Hastings and Peterborough Ontario

At Hastings on Wednesday the 29th we stayed on the lock wall.  People were fishing the river from the lock walls just a few feet from our boat so I decided to fish a little as well; didn't catch a lot but enjoyed talking to the locals.  I met three brothers who hang out together and fish together. Ron, Gerry and Nelson all in their 70s were fun to talk with.  The town is small with not a lot going on, no internet but it was a pleasant stop.

On Thursday the 30th we traveled to Peterborough to join our canadian friends in a great independence celebration on the 1st of July (Canada Day).  The scenery on the way alternated between summer cottages, total wilderness and big homes.
Peterborough is a beautiful small city located on a small lake with a hugh fountain in the middle of the harbour.
While there we met several loopers, Jim and Cathy our "old" friends, Sandy and Ed "more old friends", our English friends and a nice canadian family of Tim, wife, daughter and Grampa Carmen.
